Larry enjoyed a successful 26-year career in the Hydrographic Surveying Service of the Royal New Zealand Navy, in which he rose to the rank of commander and the position of Hydrographer of the RNZN. On retiring from the Navy he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the NZ National Maritime Museum in Auckland, a position he held for seven years before retiring to pursue other interests. As the principal of Palladium Associates Ltd, he has since undertaken feasibility studies for a number of museums, and navigational studies for several proposed fish farms. For five years he served as Trustee of the Framework Trust, a mental health charity, and as Director of Framework Services Ltd.
Larry has served in various capacities on a number of charitable trust boards and committees, including as chairman of the Leadership Team in his local church. Over a five year period he volunteered as a ship’s officer serving aboard MV AFRICA MERCY, the world’s largest charity hospital ship, for a total period of 12 months in Africa. He currently assists small charities with governance and registration.
Larry is married to Jane and lives on Auckland’s North Shore.
